Anyone know which one we may be losing? My thoughts are Kitchen Bar (although I doubt it cuz she just opened Toby's), Magnolia, Bar Totto (doubt that too, Bar Tano)............. who am I forgetting?

I hope it is not Athena on 6th Ave and 14th St. because we have been there a few times, I know they are new to the neighborhood but Their food it's delicious, and the owners are very nice people.

It could be Magnolias, they are awesome too, and it's more like it to be then since they have been there for a while.

Wow, it very well could be magnolia! it sure sounds like them, and, that is some cheap price for a restaurant and great rent too!

I just called the number (curious to see what restaurnat it is), and the person who placed the ad is not available right now.

Hmmmm...I'd say Safe Haven but the specs don't match. Sounds more like Magnolia.

It's Kitchenbar. It's been on the market for about a year.

If you read the Athena thread, it becomes clear....

oh, i've been reading. trust me. yet again, i ask, what is wrong with this person that she (ie::: athena) can't seem to wrap her head around the fact that we are not morons

time will tell. Maybe he/she really is 13.

P.S. Zaytoons on Vanderbilt has good Greek food.

That's a shame. I love their brunch and probably go there at least twice a month.

I worry about some of those South Slope places like Ellis, Euro Trip, etc...let's patronize 'em so they stay in biz!

what a shame their smores are to die for, i just might have to make a trip down there for brunch before they are sold.

sorry to see KitchenBar go. Went there on a semi-regular basis. Decent food. Not good to have a local hang go away when we have so few.

What do you guys think this says about the viability of that little stretch of south 6th? I love that there's that bunch of great places down there, but for a street that kind of dead ends in the middle of nowhere, I wonder how they're doing.

Hmmmm...I guess that's too bad. I've been there a few times and the food was above average but I could never get past the awful decor. Not all local art is good people.

Very surprising that someone gave Athena a bad review. Its actually refreshing to have simple unpretentious family-style decor in the Slope and the food does not suffer because of it. Athena proves that you don't have to be 'chic' to know food. Very fresh, very well prepared, highly recommended from a fussy diner.
