does anyone have any tips for getting rid of mice? i got rid of two, just one left, but this one seems to have figured out how to eat the peanut butter off of the sticky traps, the cheese off of the snap traps, and move the steel wool out of the holes. it won't eat the poison. it continues to poop all over my kitchen and i'm convinced it's just mocking me at this point. help? could i borrow a cat from someone?

Tie a matchstick sized sliver of uncooked bacon to the trigger in a plain old mousetrap and trim it doun with a scissor until its just the knot of baconfat. This has worked on some pretty crafty mice.

Cut the heads off the mice you've caught and put them on pikes as a warning to the other mouse.

We caught one in a snap trap by surrounding a cookie with glue traps.. I think he got nervous and ran right into the snap trap, which was also put in the same cupboard.

We had the same problem. I was able to find an electric mouse trap. You bait the inside and once the mouse steps on the contacts..... Runs on AA batteries.

    This.

My building (three story unit) has/had mice. When I moved in , my cats took turns sitting in front of the over, putting the feline hex on a couple of mice that were probably in the wall there.

Once they established their mojo, I've never heard about them again, except from my neighbors who need consistent exterminator visits.

    tl;dr: Get a cat.

Subject: Mouse Problem? Foster a Mouser!

To the person who has the mouse problem and would like to "borrow" a cat . . . my daughter found a sweet and friendly cat (youngish - maybe 2) on our block this past Wed. night (1/29/09 at 6th Ave. and 6th Street). We have taken her in temporarily while we put up posters and try to reunite her with her owner. She's very pretty, healthy and quite affectionate . . . but we already have five cats and a large dog so are really at capacity. If you might be interested in even fostering her temporarily, it would be great for this kitty and would definitely solve your mouse problem.

chica - have you scanned the pets section here? There are lots of lost cat postings, and I think one is right in the area you live in.
