The wine bar on 5th av. 19th st is closing---soooo sad!
It was a beautiful place, and it was close to my house.
They are having closing party(?) today.
I do not know where to have a good wine in the area now...

Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's why they have been closed lately. Sucks. Maybe they should have a penny night like Ellis did.

Interestingly enough, I am reading this thread while sitting having a glass of wine at Brook-vin, the new wine bar on 7th Ave near 12th St. It is a very nice vibe here, with a range of prices. That stinks the other place is going out of business, but give the new place a try.

anyone know why it is closing? Seems a bunch of businesses on this stretch aren't doing so well.

Sad it's closing. The owner is lovely, and although I didn't love the "manager?" who was there during the summer--at least he knew his stuff. It's closing because of the economy.
Shop local! Tip big! Haggle! Shop owners are willing to work with you! If a place isn't a rip off (Bird) it's worth the few extra bucks to keep our neighborhood vibrant.

    Subject: vin rouge closed

I went there on Friday for closing, there were many people---nice to see that the place was loved but that made it even sadder to see it closing. The owner said it was because of some rent issue, also because of the economy. They initially thought to get Has Beans together with Vin Rouge, but seems like it did not work out. They will be looking for somebody who can rent the place as it is (apparently they own the interior) so there may be another bar or restaurnat opening up at the same place.

I would imagine it is really tough time for small business owners, nobody ( or at least many of us) can afford to go out as much anymore, or that that how we feel...hope they make it to survive next couple of years...
