tried out the new addition to getfresh today (5th avenue around 6th street or so)...they added a sit down restaurant area in the back.

the food was really delicious (we had brunch type stuff) and the prices were really reasonable, i thought. just simple, really fresh food. the eggs on my sandwich were incredible.

best of all though....they serve stumptown coffee!!! if you're not familiar, it's a coffee place that started in portland, oregon and is the best! they also sell the beans.

if you are a coffee person and don't know it...give it a try.

this is one of my new favorite places for brunch now. forgot to check out what the dinner menu looks like though....

Stumptown Coffee is the best! I lived off of this stuff when I lived in Portland. I'm going to have to check it out. I always have friends mail me the beans - it's nice that I will now be able to find it in the neighborhood.

they are also opening an actual stumptown coffee shop in the new ace hotel opening up somewhere on broadway in the 30's in manhattan. it's nyc's first.

but yes, this is a great place for it in the neighborhood. i really want to support getfresh and hope they do well.

    spread the word!

I've been wanting to try Stumptown coffee since I've heard such good things about it and since I think there's a real lack of good coffee in the neighborhood...thanks for the tip! Getfresh is so close to me.

Question about Stumptown coffee...is it roasted dark? I've learned to like Gorilla coffee, but I'm not a big fan of dark roasted coffees generally. I love the stuff at Southside, but it's kind of a trek for me.

you know...i'm not sure if it's roasted dark.

i've tried gorilla and it's good, but a bit too intense for me on a regular basis.

stumptown is still richly flavored and "strong" but it's something i could drink every day.

as you can tell, i'm not a coffee expert, but i just know what i like.

if you go, try the food too! it's truly excellent.

9th street espresso in Chelsea Market (9th ave b/w 14th/15th - and i think they have a few other locations) uses beans from Stumptown for their coffee. Delicious. I believe you can buy the beans there as well.

Anyone know where I can get the beans here in Brooklyn or elsewhere locally for sure? Never had it and now I want to try it.

Now I understand the excitement over Stumptown coffee. It's the best I've had since I moved here 10 years ago! I am SO excited!

I went in for a cup of coffee a couple of days ago and was given multiple refills...and no one complained that coffee was all I ordered. It was pretty empty, so maybe they're just trying to build goodwill, but that's seriously the way to do it! Also, the banana bread samples they brought around and told me to take a bunch of were a big plus.

Have I mentioned how much I love the coffee? It's incredible.
