For the second time in a short while, I received a phone call today from a woman who wanted to speak to me about "the truth". I very nicely said i already had my own relationship with God and told her to have a good night.

Anyone else getting these phone calls?

Every year my grandmother’s neighborhood had Jehovah’s Witnesses come through trying to convert people. I really enjoyed it because my grandma would invite them in, make tea and try and convert them to Judaism. It was kind of funny to see the Jehovah’s Witnesses looking at their watches, wanting to leave.

I just got another one of these today. Does yours come from the number (815) 589-4163?

BTW, 815 is an Illinois area code

I have a line that got onto some list that gets telemarketer calls all the time. When I get bored I will answer. Oh the fun I have. I had one curse me and hang up just the day before.

i find any conversion oriented religious zealot highly offensive,
to do it by telemarketing is just disgusting.
so i really hope i dont get one of these calls,
as i might be tempted to tell the caller exactly what i think of them.

I find that asking the telemarketer to hold on for just a moment and then placing the phone in front of my speakers and playing some choice music for a minute always results in a hang up.

ask them for their home phone number and
when is it a convenient time for you to call them.
helps confuse em at least

^^ You got that from Seinfeld-LOL! I do that too, drives them nuts!

this lady who called me with the evangelical call was very nice on the phone, not pushy at all and when i told her I was not interested in speaking with her, she told me she was sorry to bother me and to have a good night.

I get those "your car's warranty expired" calls all day long as well as "this is your last chance to lower your credit card debt' calls. UGH!

I get calls asking me to take surveys about up and coming movies. Sometimes I do them and respond outrageously to a chuckling phone operator. They're pretty entertaining.

Plus, that job sucks, I've had it. I like to provide entertainment or like, answer their survey questions.

But i'd probably curse someone out about car insurance.

the "your car warranty is about to expire" folk are actually calling from a different number -- they have a MAJOR scam going; they will call either about saving on your credit card or your car warranty, and they always hang up before you can speak to someone who can take your name off the list.

They're actually not calling from that number -- they've somehow figured out how to screw over caller ID with a fake number.

This site, though, seems to have a lot of information about these people and how to stop them.

I got another one of those car warranty calls today. I flipped my lid and they said (once again) that they would take me off their list (bullshit). I asked for the name of their company (before telling them to take me off) and they said they were called "Warranty service center".

They call my work line at home and my work cell phone and really piss me off.

Queen - thanks for the link...I'll check it out
