I got catering from Tempo Presto all the time for work. On Sunday, I received a voicemail saying Tempo Presto on 5th Ave (not the restaurant) was closing effective that night. I'm so sad.

Yup. I went in there on Sunday around 2:00 PM to get two Sicilian Chickpea Panelle sandwiches. There was a guy in line ahead of me. The lady behind the counter said they only had bread for two sandwiches, so I declined the opportunity to have the last ever sandwich there only because I wouldn't have been able to hand the sandwich over to my wife. :(

    They will definitely be missed.

Damn bad economics. I hope they get a second chance somehow.

I'm cooking at home more. Panelle sounds like farinata, which is astonishingly easy to make.

THERE are few better ways to greet guests than with socca, the chickpea pizza from Nice. Its dead easy, impressive, new to even many sophisticated eaters and conveys a sense of your own competence like nothing else. Known as farinata across the border in Liguria, this is essentially a large pancake made from chickpea flour, water, olive oil and a lot of black pepper. Bakers in Genoa often add onion and rosemary.
