Happy St. Pat's everyone- hope you're kicking back some pints!

Is there any restaurants in the hood that are doing St. Pat's meals (cornbeef, cabbage, shepard's pie etc.)?

Chip Shop has a corned beef special.

Check out Ceol (sp?) in Carroll Gardens
Sheep Station *might* have something too.
O'Conners bar use to have free corned beef sandwiches, not sure if the new ownership is doing that though.
Black Sheep pub might be another food and beer place.

Anyone else have recs?

Mama's apartment. Yum.

Magnolia on 6th Ave was having a corned beef special and $3 pints of Guiness at the bar. Donuts on 7th ave also had a cornbeef/cabbage special listed in their window.

^^^ Very true Voodoo, I just put the corned beef in the guinness water. Damn thing didn't come with a spice packet though!! I'm having to make my own spices to add. Damn Key Food brisket. :x

Whatever woman, if I could afford to make the traditional lamb stew I would, but corned beef is tasty no matter what the occasion and it's fun to celebrate our bastardized Irish holiday :alien:

corned beef tastes good, dangit. and since an awful lot of our folks left ireland because there wasn't a dang thing to eat, i'll take it over the authentic food of MY irish ancestors.

incidentally, tavern on dean is having corned beef. and so am i.

This may be late, but I was at 4th Avenue pub over the weekend and their chalkboard said they had free corned beef and cabbage tonight.

Um....my dad left Ireland to play in a band. My mother didn't even know what it was. When I told her she said "who the hell eats that?"

I have to back the Beav. I know Irish-Americans love their corned beef (hell, I think it's tasty meself), but the Irish wouldn't think of corned beef as a go-to food. There's not one member of my family (on either side of the Great Pond) who would eat it as an "Irish" dish. That's not sayin' it's not a tradition here for Irish-Americans and shouldn't be enjoyed here in the States, but it's simply not an Irish food. That's like telling every Latino I know, regardless of their heritage, that Taco Bell is authentic spanish food.
