Cheap snowboarding gear?

Hi winter sports folks - question for you, where do you get your gear around here? I tend to buy my stuff online for better prices, but I find myself thinking I need to pick up some new snowboard boots before a weekend trip as my old clunky (and slightly too big) men's boots probably aren't going to fit so well in my new slimmer women-specific bindings. It was their time to go anyway, as the right boot developed a small hole in the top from strapping in so much...

Anyhow - I'd ideally like to spend less than $100 on some decent boots. Am I dreaming to think this is possible offline? Point me in the right direction, please~

i know nothing about snow boarding but i would think that sports store in manhattan paragon would be best

I looked at their website - prices are a bit on the high side it seems. Plus the cheapest pair they show in my size is $175. That's more than I paid for my board (hurray for eBay).

There's a snowboarding place on Smith. I went there last year and bought my jacket and pants from them. They give helpful service. However, I did not buy boots from them and don't know their prices.

I also went to Burton in Soho. Don't know their boot prices. You may want to try Craigslist or go back on ebay for used items.

The place on Smith, if we're referring to the same one, is called Homage. I've never purchased anything from them but I did go on their Saturday Okemo trip. One of the trip leaders worked at Homage and he was a great guy.

Have you thought about buying wherever you're going? I bought used skis at Hunter last weekend for $99. Their package included skis, bindings, boots, poles, and a helmet.

I think she was referring to Homage - I stopped in there last year to get some stomp spikes and did find everyone quite personable, though the selection seemed smallish, freestyle oriented, and not really heavy on the bargains, iirc.

I am actually going to Hunter this weekend - I'm not really interested in used rental equipment, but maybe they'll have some end of season sale sort of thing going on. I can't imagine their board shop gets much (read: any) traffic April-October.

give this place a try - i got a snowboard setup there last year. the employees were very helpful.
