Hey, so the BF and I are going to a muay thai fight tonight in Manhattan so we need to find (*gasp*) a decent bar w/ some light not over priced apps for dinner tonight. We'll be on the west side so anything in between chelsea and columbus circle would be great! Any suggestions would be awesome..I hate trying to just stumble upon something fantastic in Manhattan.. there's too much crap to sift through

Not sure about the booze selection (may just be cocktails) but Empanada Mama's at 9th and 51st has my mouth watering just thinking about a spicy chicken emp. Def. a good place for small app's type food. Possibly crowded on a Friday, but not too hard to sit with two. Maybe you could get them to go and head to a bar :)

Rudy's bar is close by but they get very packed. It's worth it for me because there's free hotdogs and really cheap beer. But if you get there too late you'll be standing.

There might be a band playing, so that might be a turn off, BUT Smith's Bar has very decent bar food and a huge space, so you can get waitress service. The sliders are very good and the fries are some of the best in the area. Just google it. It's right next to the subway too.
