West Elm - Who makes their furniture

I have a few things from West Elm, but I do stay away from their way overpriced stuff.

I saw a couch there that is perfect for my living room layout. However, its very over priced at $2100 (not including tax or shipping)

Anyone know, or know how to find out who makes their furniture?

A little research shows that West Elm is the brainchild of the people at Pottery Barn, who in turn are owned by Williams Sonoma. Crazy eh?

Hi. West Elm furniture quality varies. Have not been very impressed with their couches. There is one in Dumbo and another one in Chelsea, I would suggest that you check them out in person and really look at them closely.

BTW, once a long time ago (actually maybe 5 yrs or so), West Elm was a small independent based out of Brooklyn. Then they were bought by Pottery Barn. Due to the massively increased scale of the business, they probably use similar manufacturers to Pottery Barn though I suspect the quality is less for West Elm (seems to be their budget line compared to PB)

actually, there is one across the street from where i work and i checked out the one in brooklyn.

I saw the couch and everything seemed fine...except the price. Lets face it, it's that expensive because you have people in that area (dare I say yuppies?) who would spend that money in a second without knowing any better.

I was thinking if I was able to find out the manufacturer of the couch, that I might be able to find it or a very similar couch(sofa) elsewhere for a cheaper price.
