Best Signage Ever! (For an old topic)

I've seen shops with the "no cell phones allowed," like Gothic Cabinet, and I think that's pretty gutsy, considering. Does that turn you off?
And I remember there was a big fuss at The Gate when someone posted a "no stroller" thing last year. But I was at Tony's Public House, and saw another "No Strollers" sign. Seriously, these are bars, strollers are always stickin out and tripping the barely drunk, so I'm 100% for it. Kudos for stickin it to the Ruling Class!
Once again, babies can be carried, strollers are huge monstrosities often unwatched by the I-cant'be-bothered moms.
Toddlers and kids are a whole nother subject.

Well..this is about the strangest use of a halloween icon I could find.

I saw a sign in Massachusetts at the donut store in an Amtrak stop that said, "We are happy to help you once you are finished with your cellphone conversation." I thought that was more pointed yet somehow more polite than "No cellphones allowed".

Just today, I was at a CROWDED grocery store trying to grab something from around this woman yapping on her phone and leaning on the shelf that held the food. She was so into her conversation she didn't hear "excuse me." All other customers might as well have been invisible. I think she was cold and just needed a warm place to take a call. Annoying. I want people out of my way when I'm trying to shop. I don't care what the offender is doing -- talking on a phone, reading a book, painting finger nails, or what. No activities that block other customers from products should happen in stores.

Last week, I saw some dumb lady walk up subway stairs during rush hour and as soon as she got to the top of the stairs stood still, with about 500 people walking up the stairs behind her, to STOP and take a call.

To the OP "nother" is not a word. Just sayin'.

That's the thing about phone booths - they gave you a marked, noticeable, socially acceptable place to make a call. Now that we all use cells, there's no place to go. You have to sort of create that space - which inconveniences others greatly. Perhaps we still need the phone booths - only w/o the phones in them.

I see that no cell phone conversation sign in a lot of store windows. Tarzian West has it also. Doesn't phase me, i think i can put my phone down while shopping, LOL

To the scarlett: part of the beauty of the internets is development of the language. Just sayin'.


In my ideal world, the phone booth would be revived as a place to duck in with your cell phone. None of these would exist at the top of the subway stairs.

i used to have to stop in phone booths to take a call! i recognize how distracting cell phones can be, to both me and the people around me. it seems most of us do too, so that's reassuringf.

I make a distinction between sloppy grammar and expansive vocabulary -- sloppy grammer is just sloppy, but if you're doing it on purpose that's a whole nother thing.
