well, as some of you might have realized from my previous posts, I'm on a new sofa hunt!

I have been googling all day for places in NY/NJ and I seem to be running into dead ends.

I'm looking for a contemporary/modern sofa. Budget is about $1800. (possibly sectional, depending on the style)

Maybe some of you know a secret hole on the wall - daimond in the ruff - type store.

Definitely not a hole in the wall, and maybe you've already dismissed it, but have you checked out Jensen-Lewis? Their Web site is kind of annoying because they don't list prices, but here it is: http://www.jensen-lewis.com/. I've always liked their stuff and I don't think it's outrageously priced--you'll most likely be able to find something in your price range. They're super-nice at the store, too.

    Good luck!

I absolutely LOVE Rico on Atlantic (it is on the higher scale) but beautiful modern couches.

Also there is the Door Store on Atlantic.

I cannot remember but there is a catalog (I will see if I have an old one at home) called Decorating or something like that and they offer quite a bit of modern furniture.

I also like Design Within Reach

zgallerie was nice. But I really did like Rico. Unfortunately they do not display prices, so Ican only assume it breaks my budget lol

one way to find out though :)

If you are willing to look at "antiques," General Nitemare on Columbia has a number of cool couches from the 50s-70s (including a cool chrome one with white leather cushions). They also do inexpensive reupholstery and the Italian brothers who run it are the best (tell them Danielle sent you and Rocco may make you one of his tasty margaritas): http://www.generalnitemare.com/

Also, if you decide to switch to "shabby chic" style, I've got a sleeper sofa (kind of a mini-couch) that's 58" long with off-white slipcovers. You can have it for $50. I've had it for about 5 years so I know it's "clean". PM me if interested and I can forward photos.

Regardless, good luck in your search!

We're planning on buying new furniture too. I saw some sofa beds that I like at this place.

Maybe you'll find what you're looking for. Good luck!

I second the Door Store on Atlantic. We love our micro fiber couch from there.

    Quality, affordable stuff

    It just occured to me.

Rico sounded VERY familiar, then i visited their website. Isnt that located right near Hope Vet? I used to do computer work for the Vet. I will bring my gf with me cause parking is a pain :)

I didnt konw a door store was on Atlantic. I know of the one in Manhattan. I took at look at their site yesterday, but didnt see anything I liked. But since there is one here on Atlantic, I may as well go to see it in person since the commute is much easier.

    Thanks!

Em- isnt that the one right next to Nelly Bly? I bought a corner table from them a while back. But they used to be called a different name. Worth a try!
