Washington Ave/Crown St Neighborhood Safe

I'm thinking about moving to Brooklyn for the first time and am considering an apartment with my gf in the Washington Ave/Crown St area. Is this neighborhood safe at night? Can people give me some perspective of the area?

No different from anywhere else around the museum... you should be fine

I live on Eastern Parkway and Classon.

Bedford and Franklin avenues, particularly Franklin north of EasternPoarkway can get a little wild west. But I still walk all around there in the dead of night and I have never had a problem.

Minimize your walking aorund late alone, and don't talk on the cellphone or have your ipod on coming to/from the train is the conventional wisdom.

Also, if you do do a guy set of crazy eyes, that helps.
