A quick and easy way to check if your computer is infected (no download necessary).

Not much yet, but the reactivation date was only yesterday, and the antivirus industry and network security teams have been working INTENSELY to try to contain it since it was identified a month or so ago. We'll know whether they've been successful or not over the next few weeks.

The worm can access all your data and then transmit it to an outside source, so depending on what kind of data it is and what they're planning to do with it, there could be a substantial delay before you'd realize (for example if they were stealing data about your credit card or bank accounts, or data to open a credit card in your name). Definitely better to make sure your computer isn't infected than to roll the dice, I think.

Something is deeply wrong with the universe when I agree with eggcream twice within a 24 hour period.

Having a Mac allows me to post genius comments like this.

Really, can't you tell how much less inane my comments are from home??

    Don't answer.

Don't feel left out if you have a Mac. You still have Leap.A, and OSX/RSPlug-F, and the classic DNSChanger. Plenty of malware, worms, and viruses to go around whatever your operating system!

This Mac blows. Ibook g4 and it's running windows 5.25 which I didn't even know existed and no one will take it and clean it up and fix it up for me. :(
