Car Break-ins on Bergen Street bet. Brooklyn NY Aves.

I am one of about 4 car owners whose vehicles were broken between 7 p.m. last night and 8:00 a.m. this morning. Did anyone see or hear anything?

This has been happening a ton over on Underhill, between Park and St. Johns. I saw at least 4 in the past 2 weeks. Maybe they moved over that way?

Thanks Niner. I hope this is not going to be a constant thing. I cannot afford to continue to have my window replaced because some junkie needs to feed his habit. If I ever catch him, I doubt the police will be called...if you know what I mean.

I believe Jesse Hamilton, our district leader, is looking to start a n'hood patrol, as they have in South Crown Heights. You can reach him at 718-778-8924. It takes an organized community to stop this kind of activity. I'll bet they don't put up with this stuff in South Crown Heights!

Just as an FYI for my neighbhors...we're seeing increased car break-ins near the vicinity of St. Marks and Kingston as well. We've been broken into twice in the past two months and we didn't have any valuables visible.

I didn't hear anything unusual last night, but I can tighten the clock a little bit. I walked home along the north side of the street last night from work around 8pm and didn't see any cars broken into. I didn't, however, pay attention to the other side of the street against the apartment buildings.

I'm really sorry your car got broken into and thanks for giving the heads up. After reading this post this morning I went out and checked up on my own car on the street.

You should call Ms. Adossa in the DA's Office 718-250-3370. She has a meeting coming up with some community folks and if you contact her she might be able to include you in on the meeting. They will be addressing crime issues within Crown Heights/Prospect Height.

UGH yes i did!! i am so sorry. i live really close and heard car alarms ALL last night it was driving me nuts. i never really think anything of it cause it's new york and they go off all the time. i am so sorry that happened.

Thanks brooklynleather. I guess car alarms go off so often that we just ignore it. Unfortunately, whoever is breaking into our cars knows this.

my car had the driver window smashed in on montgomery, near franklin. They took CDs and change - although not all the CDs, and not all the change! The worst thing was that it was in the middle of a rainstorm.
