Dog Shit Row

Has anyone ever been to dog shit row? It's the block of Saint Marks between Grand and Classon. Come see the amazing amount of dog shit, more dog shit than you've ever seen in one block!
Could it be that every dog in Brooklyn shits here or maybe it's those people with 20 pitbulls that live on the corner? Why someone would want to live like that I do not understand. You can't get down the block without dodging a pile ten times. I vote them least likely to ever get the model block award.

I read somewhere that my neighborhood (Sunset Park) was voted the worst in terms of unpicked up poo. Though honestly, I've only witnessed maybe two piles in my three years here.

I hate assholes who don't pick up after their dogs (or themselves). It gives the rest of us who DO do what we're supposed to do a bad name.

I often carry an extra bag when I walk our dog in the hopes that I'll catch a non-poo-picker-upper in the act and offer him/her a bag as if they just forgot theirs.

Then again, thinking that shame will have any effect on people who don't pickup after their dogs is pretty silly.

"or maybe it's those people with 20 pitbulls that live on the corner?"

Antennas went up on that one. OP, are you being sarcastic because you're (rightfully so) annoyed by the mess on the block or do these people really have an unusually high number of pit bulls?

yes there's a building there with many a pitbull. I saw a bunch of puppies last summer, very cute but breeding in an apartment is kinda weird. she was trying to sell me one.

    Tee hee!

I just don't get why people think it's so freakin' hard to stoop down and scoop up your dog's shit.

Sounds like a real moron. Unfortunately, there's no law against breeding (or being a moron). Do they all appear well fed and scar free (as far as you could tell)?

I'm not sure. I haven't see them up close in a while. She seemed like she liked dogs a lot so I wasn't too worried.

For a little while last summer they were keeping 2 of them on the 2nd floor of that abandoned construction site. 311 didn't give a flying fig about it though, either the breaking into a construction site or the 2 dogs that could fall off the open 2nd floor.

the dogshit problems on different blocks in ph, at least, appears to come in waves. i'm on prospect b/t vandy and under. sometimes, i have to hold my big girl by her prong collar during our walks to keep her investigatory proclivities in check, due to the piles of other dogs' neglected feces located every ten paces or so. sometimes, not a doody on the block. i always walk with three bags: one for my canine. one in case she needs a second round. one in case i encounter another dog whose human 'forgot" the bag. my jewish mama taught me well about guilting and i honor her by using it whenever i see people leaving unclaimed deposits.. however, i believe this works only because my pup is a big scary looking bitch and the (mostly young men) neglectors of pooplaw are reluctant to be mean to us. the worst is when there's a contagious g.i. prob with the 'nabe dogs and the block is awash in 'pancakes." then i am actually thankful for rain and a.s.s. street cleaning :-)

i hate that we cant all be more civic-minded about dogshit@!

lol i laugh at your quotes :p.

alot of times i blame either folks who don't care or don't know any better from countries that don't pickup dog crap back home.

i don't know if you ever walk around the corner onto grand (btwn prospect and st marks) but a few weeks back it was ATROCIOUS. and it's not like it's anything new, because the owner of my building said he actually installed our gate "so that dogs don't poop directly in front of the door." gross!

God, I live on that block and the amount is shit is so awful. If people are too lazy to pick up after their dogs, they shouldn't have them.

I add my voice to outcry against St.Marks betw. Classon and Grand. I walk down that block every day and it is really the most consistently atrocious for both frequency and volume! As I am visually impaired, I usually cross the street just to avoid any unseen packets.

The people I'm most upset for though are the little kids who have to play amid filth.

    it's been ages for me, but . . .
why did your antenna go up on that one? st. marks between grand and classon is one of the most, if the the most, ghetto-est blocks in all of prospect heights; and, yes, fools do seem to have more than their share of pitbulls running around, pooping everywhere, including in front of my building. what ever happened to taking a little bit of pride in your surroundings? i've never understood why anyone would want to live in sh*t, literally. which form of oppression is preventing you from cleaning up after your dog? and as for the abandoned work site, someone didn't break into it, there was a guy living there (is still living there bc i see and hear the dogs all the time) who apparently owned the lot before the developers came along and then ditched. back then, one of his pregnant pitbulls died, and it took doggie welfare a couple of days to respond to my pleas that i was looking out my window at a dog carcass. winners all around.

Holy shit, I would have gotten my ass in some serious trouble if I saw that. How does the guy live there? He doesn't own the property anymore, right?

    Yep dog poop is gross.

But another thing no one ever talks about is that we let dogs pee wherever they want all over the city. Yuck!

I see people letting their kids play in tree pits and I just cringe.
