What gives? The main reason I go on fridays is for gogo! I am sad to see its not gonna happen anymore.

No more burlesque!? Do you know if this is official news, and if so what the reason is? I was just there two Fridays ago and the place was packed.

I know they don't do the burlesque stuff on a super-regular schedule. Maybe it just wasn't happening that night. Although, I have been a couple of times on Tuesdays where there were maybe five or six people in there, so maybe they just tightened up the schedule?

I was there just two weeks ago and saw a dancer perform. From what one of the bartenders said, the owner has been spending a lot of time in Panama. On one recent night, many of the listed beers were unavailable, as were the potato chips. I still love the place, though!

I too hope this is an ill-informed post and that the dancing continues. I also hope Barrette installs a proper kitchen-ventilation system. Walked in Friday around 10pm and the entire place reeked like a grease fire. Even when the kitchen's closed it's mad stuffy in there in the summer time too. Place needs some serious maintenance. Keeping the side door propped open ain't cutting it.

Aren't they the point of the place?

This is wrong. I think sometimes they just don't have dancers booked or something. A friend of mine went on Sunday and there was a dancer performing.

No no i swear i heard it from a friend and she said they are cutting down on burlesque/gogo!!! That people on this very board are complaining about how they don't like the gogo !

Well, if you do appreciate the fine art of burlesque, boobie tassles, and the like now is the time to speak up FOR the burlesque. I hope they reinstate it!

I thought it was just me. Went there once for a DH HH and really liked the atmosphere and the drinks were awesome. Couple weeks later my husband and I went there for a drink and we walked right out because of the smell. Now we only go when we can sit outside.

I dunno, the time I went with a bunch of people from this board, the go-go looked like a 20 year old skinny lesbian and was either on something or just naturally oblivious.

So howbout better go-go instead of none at all?

One of the regular performers looks like she's opioid dependent. I love the dancers, though, and only wish the DJ's played music conducive to dancing.

geez, if i'd known the dancers looked like lesbians, i would have gone.

I asked the bartender on Friday night what gives and she said due to complaints by the "locals" they will only be having the shows on Tuesday nights at 10pm...bummer

went last night, dance show in full swing. Tuesdays only said the bartender, until some things are cleared up. Seems like the owner has been following the blogs, and perhaps this board, too much, but hopefully will realize we like the uniqueness of the shows.

    The shows are great.

    The smell is bad.

Seriosuly they need to vent that kitchen I almost went blind last time I was there. I thought I was at a cigar bar. Where the cigars were made out of onion rings.

I'm a dancer at Barrette (Belle) and I hereby swear I'm not smoking opium (at least when I'm dancing) and I am a queer lady (but not skinny). I'm also here to tell you that it's true, there is no go-go on Fridays anymore (they'd cut out Saturdays a while ago) and if you want it back, let management know. I LOVE dancing at Barrette, and will be in regular rotation on Tuesdays along with Catie Cakes, Gal Friday, Rosie 151, and Little Miss Lixx, so bring your friends out in the meantime. And if you're gay, or gay-friendly, come to the go-go party first Sunday of the month. xoxo
