In a craigslist apartment posting: it says: "SSA" in the list of features. I've been trying for about 10 minutes to figure this one out.

Any ideas?

Sadly we are considering it. My wife is incredibly allergic to cigarette smoke. The neighbors, who have a rent controlled lease from 20 years ago, allows them to smoke below us. Thus, she spends far too much time in agony. We've purchased a really expensive air purifier, tried to talk to them... everything.

Move to Sunset Park so Oscar has a play buddy!!

That sucks about the allergies. I'm a smoker but I'd feel like shit if I knew I was making someone else miserable with my cigarette smoke.

Ugh that sucks. The good news is the rents are incredibly reasonable in our end of the nabe. But Cobble Hill Towers? Aren't those the pjs?

If you guys end up moving there, can I dogsit while the move happens?

Yeah... if they would just crack a window it would help. But they don't. and the smoke comes up through the cracks in the floor. Arg. It is so bad as we absolutely love our place other than this.

Oh, an no go for Sunset Park... wife commutes into the city every day and this is as far on the train as she wants to come out. Understandable.

I know nothing about Cobble Hill Towers. Other than it would be walking distance to my school... which would be really nice. Sounds like they are for sale or something. Who knows, these are just one of the tons of listings. Lease is not up until end of July... so we are really early.

And yes, you may absolutely dog sit! :)

Haha... ok, I clearly suck at acronyms. What is pjs?

    Hooray for dogsitting!

Projects? "The pjs" is a pretty common thang for those of us who are in the know-- I used to work in a lot of them.

Not the projects. Check the google street view: 417 Hicks St. It is that beautiful historical brick building that has the stairways on the outside. It has a twin in Brooklyn Heights on Columbia Place between State and Joralemon. They are amazing buildings! Jump on it! When I tried to get one many years ago, there was a long wait list.

^^ 45 minutes from my door to 59th St. in Manhattan. I don't think that's too awful.

I have to agree. I lived on 46th Street and I used to LOVE the M train in the morning and evening. I always got a seat and from there to Downtown Manhattan it was 25 minutes.
