Noise Insulation

Howdy everyone.

My upstairs neighbhors are extremely noisy and I've been stressed out about the noise they make from walking and just moving around in their apartment. It's an old building, wooden floors but and even with rugs, the noise is unbearable. Does anyone have any experience with noise/ceiling insulation. I doubt there is much insulation at the moment. If anyone has any recommendations, I would appreciate it. Any ideas about cost would also be appreciated. Thanks.

I did some basic research online etc and discovered that significant noise insulation is extremely expensive. But that doesn't mean it might not be worth it. I'm assuming you own?

it is often cheaper to buy the people upstairs wall to wall carpet with good padding.

Or they could just take their shoes off!

I hear my upstairs neighbors too, especially when they have parties on Friday and there's always that one girl with the screechy voice and annoying laugh... But nothing beats that tantrum throwing kid on Sunday mornings, between 10am and 2pm, like clockwork.

Thanks for the comments. Yes I do own and live in a condo with rug regulations but the way they walk, it doesn't sound as if they have any carpeting. I guess I should first contact the board or management to inspect. Thanks again everyone.
