Poor Mougar, stop waking up at 6AM on the weekends!!!!! Seriously, sleeping in is the best part of going out the night before.

Also, yeah get that xray. You've been hurting for months.

Check, any ideas on where to go? My insurance is decent for primary and specialist visits, but if I just walk into the ER my co-pay will be pretty high.

well, my doctor is Raffinan on Lincoln and 8th ave. Very close to us. He takes few different insurances. Pretty much the best doctor in brooklyn :-)

I've been to him before and like him, but didn't know if he would do this sort of thing or had and x-ray

Not sure, but you can call and check. He has a NYC office too. That might be bigger and have an x-ray machine.

Checked with Raffi, no x-ray and Geis is closed

you could, um, look at your insurance's preferred providers on line.

Who's your regular GP? Normally you would just go to them and they would send you somewhere for an xray.

That basically means at least 3 trips though. One for the initial visit, a trip to wherever they send you for the xray, then a trip back to the doc to follow-up for the results. If he actually needs something done based on those results, his primary doc will refer him to a specialist, which is yet another trip (and they might repeat the x-ray there).

Mougar, does your insurance allow you to go to a specialist directly, without a referral from your primary doc? If so, you're best off going directly to a Podiatrist, who might be more likely to have an in-office x-ray. Alternatively, you could see an Orthopedist, who'd be even more likely to have an in-office x-ray, but if you have heel pain without a specific injury that you recall, I'd start with a Podiatrist.

    ...Dr. C has spoken.

Can we move this to a different thread, I don't want to think about Mougar's heel pain when I daydream about tonight's dinner...

Heel spurs! Or planter fasciitis. That will be $5 please.

You can have orthotics made now and we can make fun of you for years to come.

The Beave is most likely right.

If so, you might not even need an x-ray.

It's not really a great mystery how it happened. I moved into a fifth floor walk up, didn't hire someone to do it for me, and the next day I couldn't walk. I'm guessing I hurt my achilles, but need someone to tell me how badly or if it will just go away on its own.

If you don't need the referral go somewhere with x-rays in office. I went to Dr. Jules, info below for some achilles tendon stuff. It's not too far and they do x-rays there and the staff was friendly.

Naproxen plus referral to a specialist if the swelling doesn't go away.

Hey, if you have insurance, this is what it's for. I realized this the hard way. Now, accident+swelling=trip to the doctor. Even for minor things they can tell you what to do to help it heal faster.

Thank you for this, although I was already my GP at that point. It's not a big deal, just frustrating because I like bouncing around.

And I was able to rule out Bowden's Malady, so that's a relief.
