In New York City, Westchester, & Nassau Counties, you can email Allan Kilimnik at [email hidden] for very affordable health insurance rates. Usually 20-30% less than the companies listed above, and he can write a group of one for self-employed people so you would pay a group rate instead of an expensive individual rate.

I also have an association I can put people into if they aren't self-employed so they can get a group rate. I also have the lowest rates for HealthyNY in the city, but you have to qualify.

See what Allan can do to help you. Same comprehensive coverage without reduction of benefits, but at an affordable rate.

I qualify for almost all the criteria for Healthy NY but the only thing I don't qualify for is NOT having health insurance for 12 months prior. What's that about?? To qualify for health insurance, I have to NOT have health insurance?? Does that sound completely absurd to you guys?

Do I have to cancel my health insurance for a year before I can apply for Healthy NY?

    I have Atlantis Health Plan.

To anyone considering using this plan, just a heads up:

They raise your monthly premiums every year aprox. $20.

So my monthly premiums are now $60. per month more than they were 3 years ago when I first joined. This is for the least expensive HMO plan for self-employed.
