Parking ticket question

edited November -1 in The Lounge / Random Stuff
So I was given a parking ticket exactly a month ago.
I was going to pay it online today, but the ticket is not found.

Did I get lucky and the meter maid slipped up? Should I pay it via mail?

Did you try searching by your license plate number?

I'd check again in a day or two. Probably won't show up til then so they can tack on the extra 10.00 late fee.

Check the not guilty box and send it in. If it does so up at least you've prevented the additional fines.

Exact same thing happened to me, but I got my ticket in February. I checked my plate number and ticket number again today and still nothing. It's weird because every other ticket I've been issued has shown up in that database within a couple weeks. Your post has me re-thinking things though. I seriously don't want to get towed.

If you are checking via nyc.serv.nyc.gov those tickets wont show for a good couple of weeks...like the poster said...after the fines have been added

I just don't trust them. I can totally see them towing a car for a single ticket if the total starts to add up with late fees.

Dept of Finance is so backlogged with their site that it takes over a month now for your summonses to be posted. I think they are doing it on purpose to tack on the late fee. But I'm also a paranoid individual.

You should check on the type of vehicle. I had many tickets, would try to pay online a month or two later and nothing came up. I noticed my ticket said my car was in the "RGL" class instead of"PAS". When I checked off the RGL sure enough all my tickets appeared.

is your car in fact RGL instead of PAS?
If that is incorrect on the ticket, the ticket should be dismissed.

Ya got me, Tex. I don't think classification works for parking tickets. I remember seeing a Gridlock Sam article about the same thing. As long as the correct license plate, and make & model of the car is correct then the ticket is good. And looking at the difference, Pas is for passenger and RGL means regional passenger.

classification works. if the ticket is different than your registration sticker then it's automatically dismissed.

I'm not sure about that - I got a ticket for the wrong color and wrong year car...still had to pay it.

    dont see how.

even if they are wrong about 1 little thing, it's an automatic dismissal.

I thought so, too. I disputed it and received a notice stating that color/year had nothing to do with whether or not the ticket was valid.

<---- considers mailing Ana an invoice stating she owes me $ for some random reason.

on a non-sarcastic note: Damn, that sucks Ana.

I will happily pay you in Oscar nuggets.

Full disclosure, I disputed the ticket online and not in person.

wrong color and wrong year are different than wrong classification.
you can tell because they use different words.
