New place Fish and Sip

edited November -1 in Park Slope
On bergen and flatbush, where the old Cheese Stakes place was.

I have the menu: breakfast, salads, panini's ($7), pasta ($6-8 dollars) and fish. Unfortunately all the fish dishes are unpriced which does not bode well.

Plus coffee, lattes, smoothies etc...

Anyone been?

they handed me a smoothie sample last weekend...raspberry banana...and it was GOOD! the name doesn't really seem to mesh with what they have though.

Fish and Sip would be a perfectly nice name if they had cold beer/wine and great fish sandwiches . . . kinda like the bar at Fish Camp when they're not being idiotic with bad service . . .

I wonder how Sip wine store feels about the name, or if there's any relationship?
(I love Sip wine store. It's a really well curated place, and they make good recs with good attitude. They're no dummies about a good range of prices either...)

Sounds like a bit of a mixed identity to start tho. I'm all for good fish places. Keep watching it for us Mami!

If they had beers and a pond for fishing in, it'd be a great name.

I walked by after having an awesome box sushi lunch at Taro. They have a 6.99 fish and chips special. might try it tomorrow.

But I agree with everyone. If it was a wine and seafood spot like fish camp that would be much better. But I don't see any wine available yet. Not sure if it's going to make the cut in this nabe.

Walked by as well, grabbed a menu. Potentially an option if they do what they do well.

We don't need another Fish Camp. If they had good sandwiches, fresh fish, and good prices, then it'd be a good deal. In the slope, though, fresh fish would probably not mean good prices.

On the other hand, by my job in Bed-Stuy, they'll deep-fry a piece of fresh fish and put it on bread for you for a couple of bucks. :)

Remember when it was the Greek diner? Don't recall the name...
Anyhoo, I live nearby and saw the diner owner's kids go in there when they were still getting it ready to open a couple of weeks back. Maybe they own it... It's a random menu and the name doesn't fit at all, but then again I still have a problem with the name MELT. which I always thought would be a more appropriate name for a fondue joint.

Update: I tried their Fish and chips special $6.99, pretty good price.
You get one big fillet and a bunch of fries. They make there own version of tartar sauce. It's a dill, garlic, yogurt aioli. Really good if you are into that stuff (I hate mayo so I only gave it a quick taste)

Food was good and satisfied the craving, but I can't say it was anywhere near as good as Chip Shop. Basically for the price, you get exactly what you'd expect. They have Italian syrups, coffee etc too. The guys behind the counter were super nice. One was Israeli and quite handsome  I'd go back for sure.
