Just saw this: "Bank Robbery | Manhattan Ave & Greenpoint Ave Manhattan, NY | 5/16/2009 11:52 a.m."
Of course, it's incorrect in saying Manhattan, that should say Brooklyn and it is correctly placed on the map.

And now looking at that map, this right next to it:
"Armed Robbery | Milton St & Franklin St Brooklyn, NY | 5/16/2009 5:51 a.m."

When I was growing up, every bank had bulletproof glass separating the tellers from customers. It seems like most of the banks in NY don't have this bulletproof glass because I've never heard of so many bank robberies as I've heard since I moved to NYC 12 years ago.

Ray Kelly has basically been blaming the banks for bank robberies, saying that the "customer friendly" layouts they've been moving to come at the cost of security.

I've never been inside that HSBC location, to I don't know how it's set up. But it's new, so it wouldn't be surprising if it has the newer "podium" layout instead of the traditional counter with tellers behind windows. But really, robberies happen either way.
