Subject: guitar strings nr. Park Slope that's NOT Guitar Ctr?

Anyone know of any guitar string procurement possibilities near Park Slope, excluding the dreaded Guitar Center?

What about that place on 3rd Avenue near Union Street? Can't think of the name of it now.

    Why is guitar Center 'dreaded"?

I think Music Matters on 7th between 13th and 14th has guitar strings.

    thanks all!

and re: GC: just not into the warehouse/used car sales vibe the chain decided to replicate from all said chains. i practically feel physically ill from walking into such shops: you can slice the "cheese" with a knife, as the obnoxious bombast knob is always red-lining at 11, at most of these places. perhaps i'm picky. no offense to any GC supporters. the acoustic room is nice; but the takamines in stock there are all overpriced.

Mazzotti (or Mazotti, not sure which) on 3rd Ave near Carroll Street. They're great. They have strings, etc. and they are cool with people trying out their awesome vintage guitars, etc.

i tend to agree with you, and have always looked to shop elsewhere first.

but fwiw - the last time i was in GC ,
Mingo seemed to be in charge of the guitar floor and that was a refreshing change.
(you know...the guy that used to run musicians general store on court st?)
