Nice. Echoing the Brownstoner comments, I hope they sell good bread as well.

They opened yesterday-- has anyone tried it out yet? I'm eager to hear about it since I can't find time to stop in myself for a few days.

i may try to get a sandwich from there for lunch today if they open before noon. will report back.

Dropped in and got myself a very yummy rapini and fresh ricotta sandwich to go. $8.50. Somewhat on the smallish side, but absolute sandwich heaven while I was eating it.

The other sandwich selections sounded terrific. There is definitely a salami/provolone/peppers and a tuna/anchovy on the horizon for me.

The place is pricey. That's for sure. The cuts of meat are not going to replace your Key Food cold cuts anytime soon unless you're willing to spend some good money.....everything's in the $20 a lb neighborhood. Some very high-end olive oils, vinegars, and a high-end chocolate selection that beats Blue Apron's. Cheese selection was excellent, and good to see being that it seems like Bierkraft, my normal cheese place of choice, has cut down on their cheese selection. They absolutely have a way of making everything look absolutely scrumptous, though. They also sell their own gelato and sorbet by the pint.

Recession be damned. This place is going to make a killing.

I went in yesterday and bought some meatballs, prosciutto and rhubarb gelato. All of them were great......The space looks great too.

Dinner tonight consisted of ingredients from BL. Although I wasn't there in person, the place got a good review from my resident cheese guru. A lot of the inventory is a repeat of Blue Apron, with an excellent cheese section, and pretty good sliced meats (but BA might be better here). With later opening hours than BA, I think that BL's the new go-to place for us.

And their own brand of gelatto? Amazing! Try the hazelnut.

I'm hoping that BL soon starts carrying smoked fish, and bagels.

they sell A chocolate sorbet. i would imagine it's the same.

had the rhubarb last night. my wife makes a mean rhubarb sorbet as well, which is a bit more tart, but this tasted like candy. really good stuff.

stopped in today and had the beet greens and ricotta salada sandwich and it was seriously one of the best sandwiches i've ever had. at $8.50 it's not cheap necessarily, but i can't wait to get it again.

Just reposting my comment from the PH thread about this:

I finally got to check it out today, and that store is amazing. It's not cheap, but the product selection is great. Although the cheese collection is small, it is well curated, and you can tell by the "cave" that they're serious. The prepared foods looked terrific (no surprise, given the Franny's connection), and the space is nicely designed. I agree with belzjm; it's more like Blue Apron than Sahadi's, but I like it better than Blue Apron.

I got a salami and provolone with hot peppers sandwich and it was delicious. If you're expecting a Bensonhurst-style hero loaded with meat, you'll be disappointed though. It was more European-style, with a nice balance of each element, with really good olive oil. The bread was crusty and tasty (I think it's from Sullivan Street Bakery), and the pickled veg was fantastic. It was $8.50, and worth every penny. I will definitely get it again.

All in all, I think the store is really well thought out, and a great addition to the neighborhood. I think they'll be very successful, even with the current economy.

Bklyn Larder is absolutely wonderful. Their smoked salmon is the best I've tasted. The meat and cheeses are out of this world. As far as price goes, for the quality products they sell I believe the price is more than fair. Blue Apron, Fairway, D&D, Russ & Daughters, etc, will charge just as much if not more for inferior tasting food. Do not go in there expecting Citterio or Shaller Weber junk. I.E. what Carnivore said. All of what I say is ironic considering I really wanted to hate another place I though was a "Too Poor For Manhattan and We Suck As Well" store.

i went back again today for another sandwich.

this place is top notch.
