    safe, yes.
    expensive, yes.
    pain the ass, yes.

....brooklyn is perfect for the '97 corolla. ...don't bring anything nicer. dents, scrapes, the occasional break in, lots of tickets and/or quality time to comply with A.S.S. parking rules

Agreed. Getting a safe garage for a nice car is like paying rent on two apartments.

You might get some more responses to this if you post it on the Crown Heights board.

I live on Washington and feel quite safe, but I'm about 8 blocks north of you and don't get down that far very often except to do to the park.

Crown and Washington is quite nice. Not sure what specific info you're looking for... It's a safe neighborhood, perhaps more so than the suburbs!

Just don't leave anything in your car and you will be fine. I had more break ins when I lived in the suburbs than I do now. I love having a car in Brooklyn. I believe that it's worth the hassle.

what do you need the car for?
the garage on st. johns is fine - that's where i tell anyone who visits me to park.
