God, the 7th Ave street fair is a waste of a street closing. Such a shitty excuse for a street fair. I'll never understand NYC's penchant for socks, crappy clothes stuffed into plastic bins and the same zeppole and sausage truck every 10 feet.

I thought the 5th Avenue Festival was pretty terrible this year. Restaurants keep on getting lazier and lazier with the food. Years ago, the Fish Camp would sell mini lobster rolls for $3 and I would buy five of them and just chow down. This year, they didn't even have a table. Everyone, except for Bogota, seemed to think a pulled pork sandwich was the only thing worth serving.

I got a t-shirt I loved once off a vendor at 7th Heaven, so I'll always look positively at it because of that. Tube socks be damned.

What is a Gonzo Marketing Ploy? From OTBKB:

June 21: Seventh Heaven Street Fair

I just got word that the Park Slope Chamber of Commerce is offering a special deal for Seventh Heaven for vendors who become members of the Chamber.

For vendors who want to get an optimum "spot" in the fair for free (one of the perks of membership!) you must send in your membership form to the Park Slope Chamber of Commerce indicating that you want your spot, by this Friday, June 5th!

Forms can be obtained by emailing Catherine Bohne ([email hidden]) or calling the Park Slope Chamber at 718.303.4364.

Completed forms can be dropped off (with your check!) at the Park Slope Copy Shop, marked Attention Bob Kalb. The Chamber is also developing a "Gonzo marketing Ploy" to make their street fair unique and gain extra attention for local business. Stay tuned.

Maybe they have someone using alcohol and drugs recreationally while reporting from booth to booth. They could call it "fear and loathing in park slope".

5th Ave fair had a Shamwow stand... Frighteningly enough, it was quite crowded.

You can use the shamwow to mop up after the sausage and burned corn. Another infomercial millionaire. Is the shamwow guy out of jail after his strange bout with a prostitute

Hey, Catherine from the Community Bookstore is organizing a scavenger hunt for the fair. That should make it a little more interesting.

I thought it was really good this year as well. I think for some reason this street fair is a notch above most of the other street fairs I've seen around the city. I think you usually don't see so many local business participating. There is some really quality goods and food as well.

I agree, the fact that so many local stores and restaurants are out there makes it better

I had to walk through it, and was sad i didn't have more time to spend. there were a lot of cool vendors, and much of the food looked amazing.

We walked through on our way to Franny's for lunch and it wasn't too bad. Lots of nice jewelry vendors. They need to get rid of all the politicians and their lackeys sticking papers in your face making it harder to pass.
