The rain will be gone by Sunday - just in time for the first weekend of Summer Streets on Vanderbilt Avenue! This Sunday, and every Sunday in June - Prospect Heights' main street will be closed to traffic and transformed into a pedestrian plaza. This week at Summer Streets there will be: music all day, a fashion show sponsored by Pieces, art exhibits and gardening, lots of kids activities including Music for Aardvarks, badminton, and wine tastings. Stop by the outdoor cafes for lunch and a drink - or stroll around with an ice cream cone. There will be space to play, walk, ride bikes - and simply enjoy the summer day.

Summer Streets on Vanderbilt runs from Park Place to Dean Street, noon to 5 pm, Sundays in June (June 7, 14, 21 & 28) For more info, visit: www.phndc.org.

Sponsored by the Vanderbilt Avenue Merchants District and the Prospect Heights Neighborhood Development Council in cooperation with the NYC Department of Transportation.

The event was great last week. If you want next week's to be a success, you should volunteer for an hour or two. It's a huge amount of work to get an event like this off the ground.
