Is that a doable walk? Is it a worthwhile walk?

Anyone?

    Good point.

How long would you expect the walk is? Is it gonna be scenic at all?

Dude its right here- 9th st and 4th ave in front of the church. If you're nice sometimes they'll drop you off on 5th ave and 9th st instead of 4th. It runs more often than city buses in my experience.

Btw we're neighbors, I'm on 7th st same ave :)

If you want to get lots of groceries, maybe get the number of a car service around there (or even here) and just get a ride home. There are often cars outside of Ikea, but I've never noticed any at Fairway.

I second taking the Ikea bus. 9th St isn't the most scenic nor is crossing Hamilton.

It is impossible to walk from Park Slope to Fairway.

Great men have tried.... they have all failed.

This is my grocery run! It is interesting if you're into the urban decay thing. Walk out, bus back. The B77 brings you right back to the slope via 9th st. 1 1/2 hour round trip.

I have, but I run marathons. But I also take the bus back, it is uphill with my booty.

    I bike there often.

The route is simple: Ninth Street to Court Street, turn left and walk under the Gowanus overpass. Turn RIGHT, either at Lorraine Str. or the next (past Red Hook pool), turn right and walk all the way to Van Brunt. Left on van Brunt to Fairway.

there are other routes (Union Street, for example).

    Shop judiciously and walk home.

take Ikea's free service to and from fairway.
if your order is under $200.00, fairway will charge you $5.99 to deliver.

I would not recommend walking there.

Are you sure about these directions? There seem to be too many lefts. (I could be wrong.)

    3.5 mi1 hour 7 mins

    Grand Army Plaza
    Brooklyn, NY

1.Head south on Union St toward Plaza St W 348 ft
2.Turn right to stay on Union St 2.0 mi
3.Turn left at Van Brunt St 0.9 mi

So it is really, walk down hill from Park Slope to Van Brunt and make a left till you hit Fairway.

I walk there all the time, and just take a car service back. Takes me about 35 - 40 minutes depending how fast I walk. The gritty part of the walk is from 9th st./4th ave til you get to the other side of the Hamilton overpass. Some of this can be avoided by staying on 7th or 8th St. in Park Slope as far down as 2nd ave. The Red Hook part of the walk is kinda nice - Bay St. past the ballfields and the Red Hook Pool, all the way to the end, then a left past the Added Value garden, then a right on Van Brunt past Ikea (and past a big bus lot too, holding steady against the Red Hook gentrifiers). You'll have to call a car when you're done, they don't just wait there (and don't poach someone else's car - that's happened to me a couple times!).
