    Useful pre-meeting reading:

    It's really a disaster.

hey danaeo, thanks for that link. a disgusting but well-written update. that shit would work so much better out near floyd bennet field and the aviator complex. lots of parking. architecturally in-synch. they could even run a ferry into the boatyards across flatbush. as it is now, if you dare to drive with rush-hour traffic, as i stupidly attempted last week, downtown brooklyn is much worse than downtown manhattan. from prospect heights to soho: one hour going in, 3/4 of which was before a bridge. 95 minutes back. 3/4 of that in brooklyn. i run this route in much less time. it's ridiculous to even consider deteriorating it further.

That article made me sick to my stomach. Now I'm almost to the point of hoping it just stays a hole in the ground.

looks more and more like a death sentence for the neighborhood every day. and it looked like that on day 1.

it's consistent w/ ratner's other plug ugly brooklyn developments like metrotech or the atlantic mall.

The new design is consistent with everything in Forest City's portfolio. Why should anyone be surprised at this? Check out

By the way, I met some guy tonight who has a beautiful brownstone on 2nd Street. He said he supported the project until this new design came out, and that he kept trying to reach Marty Markowitz until he got a response. So the rumors are true- even Ratner supporters are bailing this sinking ship. I just hope our pathetic government in Albany doesn't bail out Ratner yet again.
