Shooting at Franklin Dean

Around 11pm Sunday night. I counted 7 shots.

Seemed like it was directed at one guy, who an eyewitness said was hit twice. The same guy said it would be a miracle if the victim lived. He was apparently a local guy--the dudes in the deli on the corner knew him.

Some people standing next to the bus stop said he looked familiar but that they didn't know him. I came up as the ambulance was pulling away and they were pumping his chest. Didn't look good. Sad.

Any news on the victim, and why seven shots may have been aimed at him?

Not a very good weekend for Franklin Ave.

Looks like he didn't made it. The NYT has a map showing all homicides since 2003 and the victim from the other night is listed.

I heard a few rounds go off at around 10:15pm.

I personally like that Rikers Island has had only one murder since 2004.
If the data is right, it certainly is a lot safer to be in jail.

(it might simply show how people rarely die from beatings or shankings/stabbings when there is good EMS care on site. ...or that handguns kill.)
