Cheapest/Best Car Service?

Since it's impossible to catch a cab here, I need to call a call service to take me and quite a bit of equipment to the Upper East Side next week, do you have any you would recommend? I'd like to spend as little as possible, but, you know, reliability is good too.

Well, the farthest I've gone is from prospect heights to Penn, and I think that was $30.

Arecibo is fast reliable and affordable. We even took them to the hospital when my wife was having our baby. Seriously, best casual car service in Brooklyn.

I also favor Arecibo.

Continental is cheaper than Arecibo. However, if you are going to manhattan from brooklyn, catching a yellow cab can be cheapest and fastest. I've had problems with all the local car services during rush hour on rainy days.

Ditto on Arecibo. Never had problem w/them. Somehow, no matter where you are, they are ALWAYS out front in '5 minutes' just like the dispatcher says.

They have over 200 cars, the most in northern Brooklyn, so they're generally likely to have someone nearby. Once in a while, especially on a rainy day, you might wait more than 5 minutes, but I've definitely found them to be more reliable than most local car services.
