whynot_31is Homage ok?
...are people in apt ok? (probably more tactful of the two questions) -
sweet teadidn't see anybody hurt, and ladies who'd been there longer said they hadn't either. EMTs looked bored, which is probably a good sign.
i think the fire started above homage (not sure), so i'm sure they'll at the least have big water damage. -

whynot_31big fire! several apartments look like they were destroyed. sucks
(not exactly a brilliant post) -
theburgerkingSucks! Are the two shops sandwiching Homage open? Kind of creepy looking if you ask me... -
xlizellxwow....that sucks! how did i miss this?? i am across the street!
homage is closed on mondays - i wonder what happened.
theburgerking -- i have honestly never seen the 2 shops on either side open. the one on the right sometimes has the gate up, but it looks just as empty even then. -
mrs whynotI've seen the burka (sp?) store on the right open. -
homeownerThe muslim women's dress shop is open, but for obvious reasons, doesn't get a ton of foot traffic. The other place has been closed for as long as I can remember (6 or so years). -
redstripeNo one was hurt. The fire started above Homage. I spoke to the guy whose apartment it was. He had been living in the building for 10 years or so. His entire life was out the window in smitherins. He slept outside of Homage last night.
Also saw/spoke to the owner of Homage last night. She was pretty distraught but thankful that no one was hurt. -
sweet teait is so lucky no one was hurt. that was a BIG fire.
if anybody finds out about efforts to help those who live/d in the building, please post. -
kella_vI just spoke with Homage's owner and the man who lived in the burned down apt for 10 years on my way home from a run. I would like to help him...anybody up for donating? -
piccolo54I think that's a great idea! Homage's owner and the apt. owner were both still pretty much in shock and obviously haven't had a chance to figure out their next steps. I think it'd be good if we organized something - a clothing drive? a monetary collection? -
hjdAnymore details? What was the approximate time of the fire? Cause? This was yesterday? -

xlizellx**insensitive moment**
walking past the muslim women's shop tonight i saw them cleaning it out from the fire...and they had the manicans out from...naked. after having them trapped under those outfits in the windows all these years, they were out front and naked tonight. i literally laughed out loud. although i do feel bad about the damage to their shop. -
rosweedxlizellx - I would have laughed, too. I walk by that store all the time. Just goes to show that beneath whatever you are required to wear on a daily basis, we're all naked mannequins underneath.
-
rosievHey - I happen to live in that building. It's a miracle my apartment is fine (no damage except for smoke), i feel very very lucky, since i'm on the same floor as where the fire started. They don't know yet what caused the fire, but apparently my neighbor had a lot of junk and loose computer parts in his apartment. There's a LOT of damage on that side of the building. But i hope they will be able to connect water/electricity soon, so all the renters can move in again. -
rosweedJust walked by and they're cleaning out the place next to Homage already. -
redstripeAnd theyre cleaning Homage too -
xlizellxanyone heard anything about this? the boarding is still up on the windows upstairs and none of the stores below seem to be having any activity. is homage still planning to reopen? -
won't ub my naborI've been wondering the same thing... -
whynot_31I've been missing Homage.... -
xlizellxwhynot, me too. i think once a week my husband and i turn to the other and say that we wish we could order homage for dinner... -
xlizellxthe gate was up today, a full dumpster outside....i know i'm getting my hopes up based on little facts, but here's hoping! Anyone know anything?
