Prospect Park Concert Rules

I need some advice on seeing a show at Prospect Park.

Last time I saw a concert there, we brought in a box of wine (classy, I know), and didn't get any hassle from security. I don't remember seeing alcoholic beverages sold anywhere, and I honestly assumed the show was BYOB (but only after we had brought in our own beverages).

I went on the Bandshell web site to check out the show I'm seeing on Wednesday, and there is a specific disclaimer stating no alcoholic beverages allowed. So my question is - do they mean we're not allowed to bring our own, but they will be sold inside? Or is alcohol banned altogether?

If the latter part is true, is it worth risking sneaking in our own?

pretty sure they do sell beer and wine.

At least in my experience, no beverages are allowed in -- wine, beer, water bottles, etc. The entry gates usually wind up with heaps of bottles of all sorts. You can give it a shot trying to sneak stuff in, but know you may lose whatever you bring with you when searched by security. Full disclosure: I've muled-in a six-pack a couple times way back when in the bottom of my kid's stroller, wrapped up in a blanket under diapers, wipes, etc. Classy, right?

Anyhow, traditionally the Two Boots food stand and a couple other tents sprinkled throughout the space have sold beer and wine.

Looking back on the previous show I saw there, I think we did sneak that box of wine.

I will now incorporate Sterling's method and find myself a stroller and put a 12 pack of bud light wrapped in swaddling blankets in the seat.

note to those broke in your early 20s: the entrance sounds like a fine place to retrieve un-opened bottles of wine.

I've brought stuff in and no one's every stopped me, but yeah, I don't think it's allowed. They were selling beer @ the Dr. Dog show though (which was awesome, by the by.)

Is it possible that they include a "Bud Light Music Series" and don't sell any?

They sell both beer and wine at all shows. In past years they had Red Hook beer, this year, however, it is only various flavors of Bud (including Bud Light Lime the single worst beer ever brewed).

technically, there's not supposed to be any booze, however, when I went on Sat. with 2 bottles of wine in nalgene bottles, security specifically said, "we're just checking bottles and cans, really." I think they're more worried about injury than they are about people having a beverage or two. But the fence option is a winner as well.
