Water turned off for routine work

My landlord is renovating an apartment in my building and turns off the water with no notice. Does anyone know if landlords in NY state or city are required to give some type of notice for non-emergency house work that requires the water to be turned off?

I don't know - I live in a coop and there's been a few times the super has had to turn off the water for short periods - but I think that was sudden so he didn't post - if it's planned, he does post a sign.

When I lived with my ex in a coop, they always posted a flyer in the main hall and usually pushed a notice under the door when they planned to turn the water off.

I don't know but you should check
    http://tenant.net/.

It's a pretty good resource for this kind of stuff.

In short the answer is no. However, he should give notice to everyone out of common courtesy. I cant imagine having the water shut off on me while in a middle of a shower. I notify all tenants before the water is turned off.
