Holes in Walls

What do I use to fill in holes in my apartment walls from curtains, hooks, and pictures?

I hear toothpaste works well.

Are the walls white?

Just buy a little tub of spackle. If they are really small you can even use your finger to rub in and fill the hole. Otherwise a cheap plastic spackle tool will do.

Any hardware store has this.

they come in smaller sizes and there is even one that goes on pink and dries white so you know when to sand it.

Spackle. Don't forget to sand it when the spackle dries. For larger holes use that "magic" mesh tape and lay on joint compound in decreasingly thinner layers.
