Pequeña

the late and lamented barrette was getting a fresh coat of paint this afternoon. it will indeed be a new pequeña, the person working there (owner maybe?) said. sad as it is to lose barrette, pequeña looks like a welcome addition to what seems to be becoming our own restaurant row, with the vanderbilt coming across the street, joining zaytoons, cataldos, le gamin, amorina, etc.

probably not great news for los muertos, however. (suerte amigos!)

she said they hoped to open in 4-5 weeks.

The yellow paint looked nice while I was passing by today. It really brightens up that corner.

Taqueria de los Muertos is my crack. That place is so dang good. While I'm happy a new, and relatively good, restaurant is moving in on Vandy, my heart will always be at los Muertos. I hope the both of them can survive together!

I, too, like Muertos. I'll give Pequena business, but I think they'll be more of a sit-down place, whereas Muertos is for take-out.

i agree that all 3 mexican places nearby will be for different reasons ..all cheese-related....

    - muertos for take-out or cheesy-bad-for-me goodness
    - chavellas for take-out or eat-in of non-cheesy good food
    - pequena for eat-in somewhat-cheesy good food

xlizellx sums it up perfectly. I now won't have to walk to Fort Greene for my somewhat cheesy Mexican!!
