FOUND CAT, PROSPECT PARK - 07-10-09 - Large Black/White Male

A very large black/white male cat was found in Prospect Park today. We aren't sure if he was dumped or escaped. He was very scared but allowed us to take him home. The cat looks pretty clean so he may belong to someone. Please e-mail [email hidden] if you know of someone that has lost a cat or see any signs for a missing cat. We would love to reunite this guy with his owners.

Along PPW, it seems that lots of pet cats from nearby like to journey into the park. Who could blame them with all of the rats and mice to be had. If it was clean, it might be one of these kitties. I always see them crossing the street late at night when there isn't much traffic.

Hope you find an owner! If it was near the northern end of PPW/GAP, that sounds like a cat that has been prowling that area for a long time.

I just saw signs up for a missing black and white cat. I think it was on my walk home but I will check when I get out of work and post the info here

Thanks for taking him in! I hope you find his owners. You can take him to a local vet for free to see if he is microchipped. I found a cat in the park last year - he was chipped but not registered (I ended up helping him get adopted)

I know someone who's lost a black and white cat. I think the distance makes it unlikely hes the one but I have forwarded your post to her.

I just saw a sign up at CVS on 9th Street a bout someone who lost a black and white cat, i can't remember the cats name, were those your signs bswarts?

bswarts, I hope you find your little guy, i saw the sign at CVS and came here this afternoon because I remember seeing this posting,

bswarts2, be sure to call 311 and report him as missing to AC&C. Also call local vets (Prospect Park Veterinary Clinic, Animal Kind, 6th Avenue Veterinary Clinic, 5th Avenue Cat Clinic, etc.) since they often keep a log of lost/found pets. Once you find him definitely get him microchipped. Prospect Park Veterinary Clinic microchip for a nominal fee. Good luck!

Hi, thanks for the tip. I reported him missing to AC&C this morning via phone and website. There have been so hopeful calls to my phone (one caller said she thought she saw him at a construction site near us), but no kitty yet. I did however leave some food in front of the apartment last night and discovered it to be mostly eaten this morning with a dead mouse next to the bowl! I realize it could have been any stray cat in the neighborhood, but some kitty was thanking me for the food and I hope it was Herbstreit.

What goes around comes around. While you are feeding annonymous kitty, someone somewhere is feeding yours. I have been where you are. You'll find an amazing network of people looking out and supporting you.
