I have a friend who has moved recently and is struggling to find an affordable psychatrist that will prescribe her a current maintenance of prozac/fluoxitine. Does anyone know of one who will provide her with a long term refillable script and is financially affordable? I know family practitioners will do this sometimes but she is new to the slope/south slope area and doesn't know where to go. She is also a student as well so no health coverage at the moment and the health coverage she has forces her into some shady hospitals.

ALl of your help is really appreciated as she is very frustrated with the health care search in Brooklyn for a simple script.

Not sure if you'll see this, but I'll give it a try. If she goes to any public hospital, she can be seen for her meds, but will likely have to become an ongoing participant in their outpatient mental health clinic. If she lives in the south Slope, the hospital that covers her catchment area is probably Kings County Hospital. Woodhull is also an option. Both must accept uninsured patients and both have their own pharmacies.

Jack knows what he's talking about. ...but you can also get a list of "non hospital" providers here.

These facilities all take medicaid and may have sliding scales.

This place is affordable as well and Dr. Magno or Dr. Fitzpatrick are great they would provide her with ongoing scriprs.
