is closed. The place has soaped-up windows. i don't think they're renovating.

The place wasn't great but it did have character.

It's actually the Grecian Corner, and yes they are actually renovating. Permits can be seen in the windows. Though the place is a dump, and the owner is a nitwit.

I once went in there with 3 or 4 friends. The place was totally empty except for one other table, and they ignored us for 15 minutes without even bringing us menus or anything. We got up and left, and I haven't gone back there. That was about 10 years ago.

Though the Grecian Corner has been in business forever. It certainly could use an refreshing. A better choice for diner food is the Purity.

    Oops...Grecian Corner.

Purity can't hold a candle to the Donut Shop across the street.

We called it "Greasy Corner" when we were kids!

But I read here that Donut Shop is moving to that space on 7th Ave and 8th where the old laundromat used to be? That's a shame. I like the greasy spoon the way it is. Soon it will look like every other renovated diner in the Slope.

It's about a month ... no sign of renovations. Uh, oh. Full of crap.

I was told by the people in Donuts that they are not closing or moving and the new place on the corner will be a place that serves seafood, Greek and French food.

I have been eating at Grecian Corner for years and really have stuck to 5 items or so and have always loved it, honestly. The only thing that kinda irritated me, though I did my best to read the paper or watch the tv while eating there, was the son of the owners, who was there pretty often. This dude knew a bunch of cops because they'd be in there quite often, both uniformed and plainclothes, and the son would just act like too much of a freaking tough guy most of the time, overhearing a story in particular about how he was pulled over by a cop somewhere for speeding and how he basically berated the cop, continuously stating how he knew this person and that person, and this cop and that cop and how he would have his job whether he was a sergeant or not.

But yeah, the grilled cheeses are effing awesome!

Cops or no cops, they're not opening the Grecian Corner anytime soon.

Honestly, I think a non-opening for Grecian Corner is a good thing. back in the day it was the only place that the hospital staff at methodist could find food on a break that cam ein the middle of the night. As I think about it.... probably no place but Korean deli to get food on 7th ave in the middle of the night but.... Grecian Corner... the time has come and gone. Goodbye.

Great good luck to whoever opens another place to eat in the location.

GRECIAN CORNER? WHAT A MESS THAT PLACE WAS. AS A REGULAR CUSTOMER AND FRIEND OF ONE OF THE FAT LATE NIGHT WAITRESS. (THANKS FOR ALL THE FREE FOOD) WHO REALLY WAS AS IM SURE STILL IS A BITCH, I WONT MISS THIS PLACE. SHE CLAIMS THAT THEY KNEW THEY WERE CLOSING A LONG TIME BEFORE. ALL THE CALLS FROM CREDITORS SEEKING MONEY FROM THE OWNERS AND THEIR SON, THE BROKEN EQUIPMENT THAT WAS NOT UP TO CODE, THE SMOKING OF THE DUDE THAT OWNED IT INSIDE, AND THE WIFE MARIA WHO CLAIMED TO BE AN EMPLOYEE. THIS PLACE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SHUT DOWN LONG TIME AGO. THE COPS JUST USED THEM AND LAUGHED ABOUT THEM WHEN THEY WERE NOT THERE. GO BACK TO GREECE, NOONE MISSES YOU.

G-Bitch sounds like a disgruntled employee , who now works at the Purity on 12th St.

My 75 year uncle once had hamburgers there for 30 days in a row and his gray hair was restored to it's natural color.

Yes..Hamilton.. that post does sound like someone with a grudge that they want aired.
I was never taught in school that capital letters mean SHOUTING.. but here ... yes they do and isn't it amazing that the Caps draw your intention to the less than just honest, informative stuff of the post.
