Jay Munday

-In this monologue, conservative talk show host Jay Mundy lambastes New York City yuppies and hipsters, individuals that he assesses as self-loathing and who have been so psychologically disturbed by their earlier life experiences that they seek to become outcasts and start anew as "New Yorkers"

As a native Brooklynite (3rd generation), I've got to say that this guy doesn't speak for most of us. He's the kind of guy who would hate New Yorkers if he grew up somewhere else.

Gotta say this works only as a skit or caricature--

On another note, am I the only one who was picturing this guy as Holden Caufield in a red hunting hat?

Well, he's right about the bad clothing that Williamsburg hipsters wear. ;-)

I think its a joke or prank, but maybe that's just my way of looking at things. I am overly suspicious of comedians.

I thought it was kind of entertaining, myself.

So what's the deal? Real or Canadian? I can't find any evidence that there is a talk show host on the radio named Jay Mundy, with the exception of the gazillion weblinks that regurgitated the info from his own website. His blog, makes me think that he's at least serious about being a conservative blogger, or if not an actual one, a good parady of one.

One other story with someone of the same name, interestingly enough, is an extreme commute by a young Jay Mundy, formerly of Mill Basin, from upstate Monroe to St. John's University.

Could it be the same dude? There is this link on his website to a Monroe news story listed as written by him, but accredited to a Gerard Mundy on the linked site.

One last link---an image search for Gerard Mundy brings up this page where there is a photo of Gerard Mundy in 2005 that looks a bit like the kid in the photo on the JayMundy website.

Well...I'm done playing amateur journalist..if only we could say the same about our Mr. Mundy.

I'd like to believe that his name is actually Jay "Monday" - but after all that over-the-top emphasis on his "real" New York accent he can only spell it "Mundy".

He sounds like the type of Brooklynite that moved with his Mom and Dad to the Suburbs when they saw "one of those people" walk down their block in 1970.

As a resident of Kings County I find it funny that Mundy, who is allegedly a native of Brooklyn, calls himself a "New Yorker" rather than a "Brooklynite". Anyone born and raised in Brooklyn who is worth his or her's salt knows you're a Brooklynite first, an American second and a New Yorker third. I believe we need to investigate Mr. Mundy. I demand to see his birth certificate!

Although I will say I agree with the area code thing. I'm still not used to saying "718" as opposed to our rightfully and stolen "212".

My guess is that we doubled the number of people who listen to Mundy by posting it on this forum.

"Passing the bong." Yeah, Jay, that's what the kids in Williamsburg are doing.

I never heard of this guy - and no, would never consider listening to him (or any other self-aggrandizing idiot on talk radio) based on what I have read so far.

This guy just reminds me of the wannabes when I was a kid. Remember the goofy kid in the neighborhood who soooo wanted to be popular? That kid attempted to be accepted by the "in crowd" by copying them (dress, mannerisms, likes, dislikes etc.) but was totally rejected - often humiliated. In turn, that kid would then scorn what has scorned him.

If this guy was spawned and bred in Mill Basin in the '80's that explains a lot -you could not get more un-hip than that!

Also - another flashback - I remember the same garbage being spewed about all the hippies etc. who populated the Village back in the '70's. Golly gee, those real estate values definitely spiraled downward with all those "weirdos" coming in.

Having hung out in Greenpoint and Williamsburg in the 80's I can only say one thing: Thank God there was an influx of young vibrant people willing to revitalize a neighborhood that was crumbling.

Who's Jay Munday? Who cares.

I tried to listen to the presentation but my stomach is quite bad tonight (stomach virus) and was afraid of throwing up.
