Kind of weird, though, that it's in Japan. "Look at these amazing creatures that we (as a nation) go to great lengths to kill and eat, even if there are few of them left".

Great music+video. That must be a cool aquarium to see in person.

Opossum Queen, you should see the documentary film, "The Cove".

It's about the concerted effort of a town in Japan to hide its murder of dolphins for commercial table meat on a massive scale, and the equally concerted effort of a group of concerned "friends of the dolphins" to uncover the truth.

Oh, netflix thinks I'll like The Cove. Thanks booklaw.

I'm not a hardcore environmentalist or tree hugger or whatever you want to call it, but I am a little baffled at how little attention the state of the oceans is getting. I can't bring myself to eat any seafood and I obsess over not littering.

Eye of the Albatross is a good read. Just kind of a cool story about fishing and sea birds and oceans and such.

can you get the cove through netflix? it opens in ny on july 31.

i think that a lot of people who don't see the ocean regularly won't think about the mess we're making of it unless they're forced to--and even then they'll resist. we need more movies like this. it's too bad that it takes something like a dolphin or a baby polar bear to make people care about such a vast and essential ecosystem, but whatever works.

Netflix is pretty up to date on what's been made so this is already available as a "save" that will be bumped onto my queue when it's released on dvd. That's a nice feature of Netflix.
