Bar near Prospect Park Bandshell?

I'm going to see Burning Spear in the park tonight...Is there a bar near either the 7th ave or 15th Street F stops that I can direct my non-Brooklyn friends to for a pre-event drink? Your help is apprectaied!

12th Street Bar and Grill on 12th b/t PPW and 8th Avenue. Johnny Mack's is cross the street from there as well.

Barbès is a cozy bar, and they have live music every night so it's a natural before or after Celebrate Bklyn.

oh, where to start? some people love it and it's a neighborhood institution, but not for me

- they only serve budweiser
-they serve it in styrofoam pints
- no seats at the bar
- 90% men, which sounds fun but 80% of those men act like they haven't eaten in a month and you are wearing a pork chop necklace
- they used to not let women at the bar - they had to be with men, and were not allowed to go up to the bar and order. Shelley Winters broke the rule and it finally changed.

Not true. The only pints at Farrell's are glass. The styrofoam "Farrellizers" are 32oz. They have a variety of beer in bottles but Budweiser is the only beer served on tap there.
I was there last night after the concert and there was a mix of men and women in their 20's and 30's. There are tables in the back for sitting and the story of not letting women in the bar is true, however, that was a few decades ago. The place is a throwback to what the neighborhood was before the Connecticut-ization of PS/WT. If all of the bars were the same it would make for a pretty boring place to live.
The concert was great btw!

ok, so some of my facts are wrong.....nice to hear....still not going there....I've been here for 12 years and Farrell's and Rhythm and Booze have almost the same crowd. There are not really other options in WT.

i'll be at the Double Windsor across the street (when it finally opens).

Thanks for the recommendations guys, ended up not hitting any bars at all before hand, but I'm well equipped for next time.

Well said! Farrells is a Brooklyn institution. Budweiser is such a big seller for them they had the Budweiser horses in front of the bar a few years ago. They were amazing.

hmm....there's truth in it, but I thought my friend told me it was his cousin (shelley winters). I dunno. Whatever...I obvi don't have my facts straight on that place, but I don't plan on going any times soon, so it won't matter!
