Ok, so this is not exclusively aimed at women but I figured this was a good forum to start. I want to start a band, mostly girls, with a fantastic sound. Here is the thing, I have an acoustic guitar that I do not know how to play, yeah, that's the big catch. I need to learn to play. Anyone interested in rocking out and teaching a gal to play a guitar would be great.

I am really open to different sounds but just in case you were wondering some of my favorite music includes:

sonic youth
velvet underground
the ramones
of montreal
the talking heads
jenny lewis and the watson twins
radiohead
the pixies
social distortion
she and him
neil young
television
battles
blondie
Just to see if we would be on the same page. Message me if interested.

Go to Willie Mae Rock Camp for Ladies. It is so much fun, all proceeds go to charity, and it will give you an intro to playing the instrument and forming a band. I went a few years ago and ended up starting a band afterwards.
    enjoy!

why do i need rock camp? i can already play the tambourine. trent reznor was shaking one at terminal 5 on tuesday, so it's definitely a legitimate rock instrument. anyway, if i had $500 i would just buy a banjo and figure it out myself.

it hurts me, whatchuwant, that you think i could not rise to the challenge. i don't mind putting in some labor when it's a labor of love.

Get used to it. WUW always hurts the ones she loves!

I have a friend that's taking banjo lessons- I give her a lot of credit. For my masters in music ed I had to learn to play the basics on all instruments. Some I enoyed more than others, but if banjo was on he list, I probably would've quit the program.

Go for it, brokechick- I fully support as I'd love to see you rip a killer solo on the 'jo.
