Hi all,
Was just in Brooklyn earlier this week, walked around many neighborhoods, and pretty much settled on Midwood, so I can be near the school, Brooklyn College. I wanted some insight on the area, and which streets are the "main streets" ei. resturaunts, nightlife, ect.? As I walked around I mostly had time to check out just the residential areas, right next to the school and the 2 and Q stops.

I am also looking for a multi family walk up. My boyfriend and I would like to live in a brownstone, and or a brick apt. building.. but want to stay away from the "houses". Any recomendations about certain streets?

Thanks again

There are no brownstones in midwood. Other then that, its a very quite place to live in. Not that many resturaunts around

I grew up around there. It's quiet, safe and boring. Nostrand Ave and Flatbush are the big commercial parts. There's not much in the way of nightlife.

Midwood, for better or for worse, has no nightlife. If you want to have fun and stay local, you'll have to make your way down to Cortelyou Road for Vox Pop, Sycamore, and the other establishments on the street. The (relatively) big shopping areas are Nostrand, Ave M, Ave J, and Kings Highway. And dont forget the Kent Theater--$5 movies on Wed! Not the greatest theater, but decent enough.

I live on Ocean in an aprtment--thats probably your best bet if you dont want to live amongst the houses.

I'm assuming the original poster means the housing projects when he/she says 'the houses" -- and not the actual victorian houses in Midwood/Ditmas Park.

But i could be wrong. He might have an aversion to off-street parking.
