Not much. There was a gas leak a few weeks back. They've just been slow patching up the street.

I was driving by yesterday and stopped to chat up a supv. Seems that a major feeder cable has failed; that is why the two liquid nitrogen trucks are there on park pl. from brooklyn avenue to nostrand avenue. He said this was a 24/7 repair job. The question is why in central brooklyn are there so many INFRASTRUCTURE FAILURES that have been occuring within the past three years?

When I walked by there today, I asked a supv. when the work is supposed to be completed. As per ConEd, they expect to be done by Wednesday, Sept. 2.

Because the city and the utility companies would rather spend money on sexy things like street corner cameras, skywatch(es) and conversion to HD rather than on unsexy things like sewers, replacing old copper cables, and replacement of water mains. So long as the lights are on, toilets are flushing and we all have 800 channels, they figure that it will be someone else's problem to fix. Infrastructure is old, repairs are only done when there are catestrophic problems and no one gets elected because of those types of repairs.
