A Coney Island makeover!

Aug 28 - New York's city council recently approved a redevelopment plan for Coney Island that could soon bring high-rise hotels and new entertainment to the boardwalk.

:puker: I want my old Coney back.... sigh..

I want the one where you could still go "under the boardwalk".

I remember riding my bike down from Sunset Park to the pier in the late '70s/early 80's and just enjoying the different crowds. Everyone was mellow (could have been the pot and/or sangria) and although it wasn't "pristine clean" it had "home" feeling all its own.

What the hell are they going to do with all the City Housing projects and assisted living homes?

They ripped up the original Steeplechase and Luna parks - is the plan to rip down whatever vestiges of the real Brooklyn remain?
