The yellow windows seem like an afterthought.

I think it's just a primer-- I think the windows will be painted.... how many students will the school admit? Will it reduce overcrowding at Fort Hamilton? Is it one of those charter schools?

It's starting with just 9th and 10th grades. The Prospect Charter School (a middle school) will be housed there the first two years - much to the dismay of many of the parents whose kids applied there.

For the neighborhood, it's a great thing for the kids not to have to ship out of the area to go to school (unless they want to). For the immediate neighbors, avoid the doors at closing time! 4th Avenue is no stranger to student crowds since O Dewey is just a few blocks south. It's pretty hellish already walking or driving around there when school lets out. The kids seem to think it's funny to play chicken with cars and start fights in the surrounding bodegas. I wouldn't blame them for closing for the hour straddling when the kids get out.
