shots fired on 15 street 8 ave

Anyone hear about the shots fired on 15 street and 8th avenue
last night?

I live at 15th and 8th, and yes, I heard them. No coverage that I can find in the local online press, of course. There were a lot of cops cars blocking off 15th street between PPW and 8th for at least 30 minutes, and a police helicopter with a search beam scouring the roof of our building. Does anyone know what happened? :!:

I heard the noise and then checked it out after all the cops showed up. They had 7th avenue between 16th and 15th completely shut down. Lots of cops, helicopter, etc. Pretty crazy!

I live on 15th St between PPW and 8th Ave. Last night at about 2:30am, a police officer was banging on my door. He told me there was a shooting at front and wanted to make sure everything was ok. I had no idea. My windows were open and I still didn't hear a thing.

wow they caught the guy, how rare is that! and poster above must be a sound sleeper lol.

Almost as rare as ABC news accuratly calling it Windsor Terrace.

thanks for posting about this! i was so curious last night...i was laying in bed and heard the helicopters and the search lights kept coming into my room...i thought i was on an episode of COPS or something...i live on 7th Ave. between 15 and 16 so this must have been right outside!

I heard the sirens and saw the helicopter circling from an apartment on 7th ave between 15th and 16th. After everything quieted down we went out on 7th ave to find out what happened. Apparently the incident had something to do with Bar 4. A rowdy crowd of drunk people form the bar were out on the street, it looked like the cops were holding them for questioning. The man in the 24 hour store said that there was a shootout and they chased the guy into bar 4, which differs from the ABC news article. WE called the local precinct to find out what happened as this was all happening and the person who answered said they had someone cornered in a store (Bar 4?) and they have the helicopter hovering to keep a spotlight on the store front.


I don't know what happened exactly but Bar 4 was somehow involved and they had police tape up in front of it. Anyone have any further details to satisfy my morbid curiosity?

LOL! why would a criminal run into bar 4 to hide? under the foosball table? maybe he just needed a cheap beer before he got locked in the slammer! HA!

I was on the scene shortly after the incident happened around midnight. My upstairs neighbor, who was the victim of the attempted robbery that sparked it all off, recounted it to me right afterwards.

The shooting apparently took place when a couple of guys tried to rob my neighbors at gunpoint, on 15th Street between 8th and PPW, in front of our apartment building. A couple off-duty cops just happened to be driving by and saw the robbery in progress. They jumped out of their car and chased the perps down the street toward the park. Apparently that's when some kind of gunshots were exchanged, but I don't think anyone was hit. They called for back up and continued to search for the guys throughout the neighborhood. Helicopters, EMTs, fire trucks, and tons of patrol cars arrived on the scene. Apparently in the search for the guys they cleared out Bar 4 to see if the suspects were hiding in there.

According to abc, they actually got the guys in there and recovered their guns.

Mystery solved! I heard the shots, saw the police find something which my roommates and I guessed was a gun, saw a guy cuffed and taken away, but we've been wondering what happened.
